Bike stands

Arcadia Shopping Mall, Zamoskvorechye. Just installed. Still wrapped in protective plastic.

Appeared last year (2012) on Nikolskaya, right by Red Square

They started popping up a year or two ago but now seem to be a standard feature of the entrance to any shopping mall. I’m also glad to report that cyclists are no longer disregarded and run over they way they were in the very recent past. I’ve been riding around Moscow for a year now, and knock-on-wood haven’t
had even one emergency situation. I’m retracting my earlier statements, and am recommending Moscow as, if not a “bike friendly” then at least a “bike compatible” place. On request I’m providing a bike or even two to my apartment renting clients, and am recommending the landlords and hosts listed on my to so the same.
