It’s a pleasure to announce that my present long-term renters, a high tech-employed Russian couple with a cat and a parrot, are ready to share space in the very center of Moscow. Their motivation is not only $$ but a chance to practice their English, so the rate will be below market, or something like what it was nearly 10 years ago, $25/person/night for a place to stay, with Wi-Fi and a washing machine, in the very center of Moscow, 5-7 min. walk from Red Square. For those who are new here is a reminder of the arrangement:
Why am I seeing something that look suspiciously like human excrement stuck to the side of the toilet after the third clinet in a raw?! MORE>>
I am no longer actively involved with the project but things seem to be doing quite well without me.
A poster with info about shelters for the homeless. Been in one or two of these. No, don’t get excited, not as a client, not quite yet, not unless the trend continues. Clean and comfortable but rules are strict and enforced. You are either in before 9 or 10pm or stay out. If you stagger or smell of alcohol, you are out. But if you comply and behave like a respectable citizen, warm space, basic facilities, and simple but plentiful food is there for you. No one from what I know is denied admission.
True, they tend to be far away and a a bitch to find but if you are in a true and real fix a special van will come out and get you. If you are down and out BUT MANAGED TO STAY SANE help is available even in Moscow.
Also listed in this poster is where the homeless can get washed, eat, and receive clothing.
I’VE SEEN AT LEAST ONE CASE WHEN A FOREIGN TRAVELLER, AN AMERICAN, WAS SICK AND WITH NO MONEY OR OTHER RESOURCE, AND VERY CLOSE TO BEING LEFT ON THE STREET. THE ABOVE IS REPRODUCED NOT ONLY FOR ITS ENTERTAINMENT VALUE.
Hole-in-the-schedule special. Make me a non-insulting offer and you got yourself a place right in the center of Moscow, on the canal, 7 min. walk to Red Square, close to the Tretyakoff Gallery, Moscow House of Artist, New Opera, GUM and all these touristy things.

STILL A FEW DATES OPEN JUNE AND JULY!
PS. Just curious. How much do I have to drop the rate to get any takers? 50% off ($70/night) doesn’t seem enough. Not a single enquiry. Let’s try $50? But I’m starting to see that there is no use. Going down seems to make no difference. Can as well be $120. You fuckers complain about Moscow being expensive but when someone makes it cheap you don’t react. Please someone explain what’s happening. As of last year or two the most bookings where from tripadvisor.com where I announce the highest rates.
Accommodation offers and requests direct from landlords. Alexandra posted my apartment there and got several enquiries of exceptional quality. To be explored further but the first impression is highly favourable. The site is in Russian but the type of characters hanging out there are very likely to speak English so don’t hesitate to leave a request in English.
See the Availability schedule. It is filling fast, and if you want it in the summer do not put booking it much longer. $120/night, $700/week. If you see a small hole in the schedule make me a non-insulting offer and I’ll probably accept it.
Unlike most Orthodox churches this one subordinates to the American Patriarchate, not the Moscow one beset with scandals so silly that I have difficulty attributing them to human stupidity or malice but am instead inclined to see an evil mind of universal scale behind stories of which the Pussy Riot scandal is but one. I thought Satan was pretty clever when he brought the Catholic empire down by cleverly leveraging a few instances of priests groping and having intercural sex with altar boys to bring the whole enterprise down. But here, in the Orthodox territory, he outdid himself! But St. Catherine’s belongs to a saner American branch. Their site seems to be fully bilingual. Look for a small button in the to right corner to switch into English. The address is Bolshaya Ordynka 60/2.
St. Catherine’s on Bolshaya Ordynka is on my list of establishments to be visited. Suitable company welcomed.
