Moscow-based www.rodnye-igrushki.ru specializes in Russian-made toys. On cursory inspection I noticed several familiars from the 70s: plastic model airplanes, the famous Konstruktor sets, mechanical hockey, and of course wooden toys.

A nearly untouched by time consignment store found at Preobrazhensky val 25, next to a church or a monastery with a large “Иконописная мастерская” (icon-painting shop) sign.
What a pattern. Things I like appear to aggregate around religious establishments, which I don’t like. Yes, there is a story why but it is beyond the scope of this Uncle Pasha’s Moscow project.
This one pretents to be not a store but a bar, which allows it to sell at night. Ulitsa Lusinovskaya 48/50, kv. 10. It is where Lusinovskaya crosses Pavla Andreyeva, and the store’s dore is right at the corner. Nearest metro: Dobryninskaya or Tulskaya. Based on eyewitness report. To be investigated soon.

The best I’ve seen is www.put-and-go.ru. Outlets all over Moscow.
What you can normally find here are old-style Russian variety chains that are a pain to put on, eat up the tire in no time, and need to be taken off before even a short stretch of bare asphalt. The alternative is real low-quality products that, if you are lucky, will serve once. Both are to be avoided.
Spelt is reported to be available at Ulitsa Zhivova 6 (Metro 1905 Goda).
Рыбный рынок (rybny rynok, fish market), Pyatnitsky pereulov 2. Look for Elena the butcher under the sign “Деревенское мясо” (derevenskoye myaso, village meat). Small eggs from young chicken at 100 roubles per 10.
Next to her is a stall with Ukrainian (Lviv) and Belarus beer but I think I’ve already listed it.
I’ve been for some time hearing rumours of sightings of Borjomi in Moscow. It disappeared from the time of the conflict over South Osetia and Abkhazia in 2008. Today I ran into Borjomi in Rybny Rynok (Fish Market) MORE>>
Who asked me where to get one of these old-fashioned pan handles that fit any pan? Here it is. Found it on the second level of the Alexeyevsky market. Much inferior to old ones but better than current Chinese versions with moving parts. MORE>>
(1) By the entrance to VDNKh. Cheap Chinese but good enough for bike rental, which is the main product of this establishment.
